So I love oatmeal, but I find that I need some new flavor combinations to help it out every once and a while. I saw a posting for Apple Pie Oatmeal and tried it out for myself, tweaking it just a bit. It was a hit! I was incredibly full and so was my husband. It was a definite treat on a cold morning and one that my husband and I would definitely make again.
Yummy looking right?
Here's the recipe:
Apple Pie Oatmeal For Two
1cup quick cooking oats
11/2 cups water
1 apple peeled, cored, and diced (I used a Granny Smith, but you can use whatever you have on hand)
1/2 - 1 cup raisins
1-2 Tbsp cinnamon
2-3 tsp nutmeg
2 Tbsp granulated sugar
*Brown Sugar and Milk to top it off is optional and dependant on your taste.
1. Bring water to a boil in a pasta sized pot.
2. Once boiling, add apple, oats, 1/2 to 3/4 of the amount of raisins, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Add sugar after cooking oats for 3-4 minutes.
3. Cook time is about 8 minutes until all the oatmeal is cooked to the desired constancy.
4. Serve in bowls. Add a little brown sugar and milk for a creamy sweet texture. Add the remaining raisins on top.
Enjoy!
